The Internet is one of the of the best tools you could use to find more clients and grow your business.
As of 2023, the total number of internet users around the globe reached 5.3 billion, accounting for 65.7% of the global population.
The most popular social media platforms are Facebook with 3.03 billion active users, YouTube with 2.49 billion, Instagram with 2 billion, and TikTok with 1.22 billion. (Statista)
These are huge numbers and if more than half the global population is on the internet, then you should have no problem finding more than enough clients online even for a very niche business.
But so often people just stick to posting on Instagram every now and then which just results in a small audience that is very hard to turn into buyers. And what we really want is a large audience that also turn into a large number of buyers, right?
So how do you easily find those perfect clients online, and get them to stick with you?
Oh wow! You're optimizing your website for leads? Such fancy words! Now what does that actually mean?
Essentially, it's how you'll design your website to move viewers along and turn them into customers.
You may have a huge following on Instagram but sadly, the majority of them won't just spontaneously decide to buy from you. Social media is for waving your sign and saying, 'I'M HERE!' but after that you'll have to give your audience a link to the next relevant action. that could be signing up to your newsletter, reading your article, or buying something from the shop.
All of these will typically be on your website, so you want to make sure when future customers click on there, you'll actually be doing something with them instead of just holding a show and tell and leave.

First of all, choose the right platforms that make the most sense for your business. You don't have to be everywhere, just where the people that would want what you offer are most likely to gather.
Selling backpacks with beautiful painted designs? You'll probably want to be on Instagram. Working as a filmmaker? Youtube or even Facebook groups might be where you want to be.
An article on this topic that I would recommend and enjoyed reading, is Tony Leonard's short guide on how to choose the right social media platform for your small business.
You're building an audience that likes to see your posts and videos but what are you actually doing with them? Think about what the point of using social media for your business actually is. Do you want to simply find more people? Do you want them to go to your shop? Do you want to find other businesses to partner with?
Decide what content you would need to make to attract exactly the right people and lead them to your desired goal.
Partnering with other businesses can be a great way to reach more clients online! Find people with complementary businesses to yours, and organize a joint event, product collaboration or something else! The best way to do this would be to find someone who doesn't do the exact same thing but has a business that is logically connected to yours, and your customers would be likely to be searching for both of your services. 👥
By partnering with other people and businesses, not only will you get the boost from their audience, but they will get the same from you too. It's a win-win situation!
